Logo and its History

The current version of the UNICEF logo consists of four distinct elements. These include the image of a mother and child, a globe, olive branches and the organization’s name “unicef” in a very simple yet powerful lowercase typeface. The UNICEF logo is widely regarded as one of the most recognizable and memorable emblems in the non-profit world.

Color of Unicef Logo

The use of blue color in the UNICEF logo stands for approachability, prosperity and grace of the organization, whereas the white color depicts nobility, peace and purity.

History of UNICEF


How was Unicef Formed??
UNICEF was created by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 1946, to provide emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that had been devastated by World War II. Ludwik Rajchman, a Polish bacteriologist, is regarded as the founder of UNICEF and was its first chairman from 1946 to 1950.

UNICEF is a non-profit humanitarian organization focusing on saving children's lives around the globe. UNICEF Canada is one of UNICEF's 36 National Committees. UNICEF Canada's main office is in Toronto, Ontario.
